Library Services
The Circulation Desk is the function of lending library materials to the users of the library. It includes checking out library materials to library users, renewing the borrowed items, reserving checked out items for the patron, and checking in materials returned, renewal of materials, receiving payment of fines for damaged and overdue materials, maintaining order in the stacks by re-shelving the library materials.
This department also offers the following services to our patrons:
You can register for a library card.
Provides basic search for materials in the library.
Non-profit organizations can meet free of charge in the Community Meeting Room during and after closing hours except during County Holidays and Sundays.
Holds
Patrons may request books that are checked out, in transit, overdue, on hold, on order, or shown as currently available. When the material is available you will receive an email (phone call if you do not have an email address) informing you that you may pick up your material at the library. You have three (3) business days to pick up your items.
Intra-library Loans
Patrons can borrow items from other branches within the East Albemarle Regional Library System.
The Circulation Library Assistant spearheads a Book Discussion Group that meets the second Monday of each month at 4:00 pm in the Community Meeting Room (1st floor).
Laminations
It may require a “wait” of at least 10 minutes to receive your laminated items. Charges for laminating include the following:
Wallet Card Lamination – 50¢ per card
Single Page (Letter Size 8.5 in x 11 in) Lamination – $1 per page (limit:30)
Large Size (11 in by 17 in) Lamination – $1.50 per page
Copiers
A copier is available on both floors at the desk. Copies are 15¢ per page for black and white copies and 75¢ for color copies per page.
There is a self-service black and white copier on the first floor by the elevator and next to the Information Services desk on the second floor. If you use these, please pay the staff member at the desk for your copies.
Public Printers
The library has 2 color printers, one on each floor that are available for public use. After you print your document, go to the desk to pick up your print jobs. Black and white copies are 15¢ per page and color copies are 75¢ per page.
Tours of the library are available to any patron or organization upon request. To request a tour, please fill out the Tour Request Form and email it to Monek Adams or drop it off at the Circulation Desk.

The Children’s Library Assistant offers Storytime twice a week from 10 am-10:40 am; Tuesdays for 3-5 years old and Wednesdays for 1-2 years old. Click here for more information.
Bilingual Storytime – Third Thursday of the Month – 3:30 pm – Ages 1-5
Join us for stories, songs, and games in English and Spanish for kids! Whether you want to learn a little Spanish or just have fun singing and listening to stories in English, this storytime is right for you.

Cuentos Bilingües — Tercer jueves de cada mes a partir del – A las3:00 – Edades 1-5
Acompáñenos para cuentos, canciones y juegos en español e inglés para iños. Tanto si quiere aprender un poco de inglés o solo quiere divertirse cantando y escuchando cuentos en español, esta hora de cuentos es para usted.

The Information Services Department offers a variety of information, expertise and instruction. This is accomplished through a number of sources, such as, books, periodicals, microfilm, electronic (online) databases, and the Internet. The Information Services staff will assist with research projects, finding answers to questions, using the computer, internet and other informational needs. This department also offers the following services to our patrons:
Computers, Internet Access, and Wi-Fi
Patrons may use public computers throughout the library. There is free Wi-Fi in the building or outside in the parking lot near the front doors.
The Library offers free computer classes monthly. Classes range from introductory to advanced levels. A monthly class schedule is available at the library, on our Facebook page, and website.
Faxing
Patrons can send and receive faxes for a reasonable fee at the desk on both floors. Faxing is $1.00 per page.
Genealogy
The North Carolina Heritage Room (2nd floor), houses a diverse collection of over 2,900 items that document the history of Pasquotank and Camden counties and surrounding areas.
Microfilm Reader
A Microfilm reader/printer is available in the Heritage Room (2nd floor).
The Pasquotank County Library offers our patrons an Interlibrary Loan service. If patrons cannot find the book they are looking for at our library, as a library card-holding patron, you can access the East Albemarle Regional Library System which includes Camden, Dare, Currituck, and Pasquotank Counties to look for your desired book title. If a patron still cannot locate what they are looking for, they can ask about our Interlibrary Loan service. With this service, staff can request materials from public and academic libraries throughout the state and country. The Information Services staff on the second floor will be happy to perform a search to help locate a title. There is a form to complete and a nominal fee for this service to help with shipping costs. The fee is $4.00 in addition to any shipping cost over that amount.
Tax Forms
(Returning January 2024)
Federal tax forms are available during tax season (2nd floor). They are the 1040 and the 1040-SR with the instruction booklet. They are available while supplies last. If you need tax forms, staff can help patrons print out the needed forms; black and white is 15¢ per page and color copies are 75¢ per page.
Scanner
Documents can be scanned and sent to an email address by a staff member on either floor. There is no charge for scanning.
Periodicals
The Periodical Section consist of several magazines and newspapers for the patron who wants to read in the comfort of the library. Materials in this section are also available for checkout.
The Library offers outreach services via the Bookmobile, as well as staff participation in Community Events.
The mobile library services strive to improve access to materials, engage new audiences, and enhance the library’s presence in the community.
Materials will include the latest new book and DVDs for all ages.
Enhance technology that provides 3 public computers, color printer, and WIFI hotspot
Services: include visits to daycares, schools (public & private), churches, and homes under special circumstances.
Available for participation in local community events.
Materials are delivered to patrons once a month.
